About Wilson Contracting

Wilson Contracting is a family owned and operated business that has been established for over 15 years. Wilson Contracting started with just three silage trucks, and has slowly grown from there. Shane joined the family business and firmly established the business in 2002. Wilson Contracting are your local, that service and support the rural community. Wilson Contracting work with the experts in the industry, and believe in doing quality work first time. We believe in providing traditional, face-to-face business for our customers.

We proudly sponsor local groups these include the Invercargill Lions Club, The Gorge Road Clay Target Club, Woodlands Rugby Club, Woodlands Bowling Club, Southland Junior Cricket, Cycling Southland, Southland BMX Club, Gorge Road Swimming Pool,Toi Toi Lions and Rimu School.

Shane - Owner/Operator

Shane has managed Wilson Contracting since it’s onset after completing an apprenticeship at Tiwai Point Aluminium Smelter. He believes in traditional, hands-on, face-to-face business and likes to make himself available to his customers. He thinks it’s important that customers can talk to the person who owns the business.
He finds it rewarding to see the finished product produced to a high standard, and to get good feedback from a happy client. He believes in doing a good job first time. One of his key sayings is, “for us to work for them is a privilege, not a right”. Producing quality work first and foremost for his clients is what Shane prioritises as owner/operator for Wilson Contracting.
Outside of work Shane is kept busy by his three young children. He enjoys getting outdoors, fishing and hunting.

Erin – Owner/Administration

Erin manages the accounts, wages and GST. She has a real drive for improvement within the business. She enjoys looking for ways to help make sure everything runs smoothly. She likes that Wilson Contracting is a family business and they’re all working towards a common goal.
Erin has been happily married to Shane for over 10 years, and together they have three children. Outside of work Erin is a keen runner, on the board of trustees at Tisbury School, and works on a casual basis as a Radiographer.

Allan - Owner/2IC

Allan was born into farming. He’s been farming his whole life, and so brings over 50 years of agricultural knowledge to Wilson Contracting. Allan started sheep farming, then converted the farm to deer in 1980, and in 2009, to dairy. Allan has always had a baler and has been contracting for over 45 years. Allan has enjoyed seeing Wilson Contracting grow over the years.
Outside of work Allan enjoys boating, fishing and spending time with his five grandchildren.

Kaye - Owner/Administration

Kaye assists with invoicing and general administrative duties. She has been working with Allan, her husband, in the rural industry for over 38 years. Kaye enjoys contributing to the business and has found it incredibly rewarding to see it grow into what it has become today.
Outside of work Kaye enjoys travelling, fishing and spending time with her grandchildren.

Taylor Swan - Dispatcher

Taylor is a born and bred Southlander and has worked in the Rural Transport industry throughout the wider Southland/Otago community so he can help out with most of your transport needs.

Rugby is a big passion of his. 

Peter McIntosh - Machine Operator/Driver

Peter has been a machine operator for over 40 years. He has been with Wilson Contracting for about ten years. He enjoys the variety of work that he does through Wilson Contracting. He particularly enjoys grading and bulldozing, and he also does a lot of truck and trailer work. Outside of work he belongs to a group of New Zealand motor caravans that tour the country and has done for 38 years. He’s a vintage motor caravan enthusiast and has a 47 ford which he is restoring and runs a 1959 motor caravan.

Brendon Moore - Truck Driver/Operator

Brendon grew up in the truck driving industry, and has been a driver for ten years now. He has been with Wilson Contracting for three and a half years. He likes that Wilson Contracting is a small, family owned company. Outside of work he likes spending time with his wife and their two dogs, catching up with friends, and working on his old car; a 34 Chevy.

Gordon Hooson - No.1 Bulky Driver – Fertiliser Spreader

Gordon Hooson has been with Wilson Contracting for four years. Before Wilson Contracting, Gordon spent twelve years in the dairying industry. He enjoys working for Wilson Contracting as they’re a family orientated business, a really good firm, and he has a variety of work. Outside of work he enjoys watching motorsport and most sports. He has three grown children that he enjoys spending time with too.

Ben Perkins - Driver/Excavator Operator

Ben has worked for Shane for six and a half years. Before Wilson Contracting, he gained a lot of digger driving experience working on building sites and on the family farm. He enjoys the variety of work that he has at Wilson Contracting and that he gets to spend all day, every day, outside. He thinks Wilson Contracting are good people to work with, and likes that the company is very family orientated. Outside of work he does quite a lot of shooting, and shoots competitively at the Invercargill Shooting Club. When he’s not spending time with the family, and helping on their dairy farm, he’s probably off hunting.

Callum Moore - Agricultural Contractor

Callum has been working with Shane and Wilson Contracting for just over a year. He previously worked for over three years doing crop planting for a commercial grower. Before that, Callum spent two years doing earth works contracting. He enjoys driving trucks and tractors, and likes that Wilson Contracting is a good small team, that works together really well. As a tight team, he likes that you get to work with management, and that staff at Wilson Contracting don’t feel like ‘just another employee’ but as part of the team. Outside of work he enjoys visiting vintage tractor events and gardening.
